Share your feedback on our proposed service changes

We’re planning timetable changes for a number of services across Sunderland, Washington, Newcastle, Gateshead and Northumberland, due to come into effect on Sunday 19 July 2026.

We’re encouraging our customers to take a look at the proposed changes and share their feedback. Your views will help us shape these plans, making sure they best meet the needs of the communities we serve.

Drawing on customer feedback as well as detailed analysis of current punctuality and passenger numbers on our routes, the proposed timetables are designed to deliver more reliable. These proposed changes also aim to provide improved connections to Follingsby Amazon and Nissan IAMP at key shift change times.

Proposed service changes

There will be some changes to early morning/ late evening journeys to provide improved connections at Follingsby Amazon and reflect evolving customer demand. Because of this, some first and last bus times will change.

There will be minor runtime changes to improve reliability.

Trips which currently start/end at Saltwell Rd will now start/end at Bensham Bank.

The stop at Newcastle Grey Street Theatre Royal will be replaced by Newcastle Market Street West (T) on Service 53.

There will be some changes to late evening journeys to provide improved connections with late evening Amazon shift changes.

The 20:10 and 20:40 Wardley departures will be replaced by equivalent 58A journeys.

There will be some changes to morning and evening journeys to Follingsby as a reflection of evolving customer demand and to provide improved connections at Amazon. The evening X58 to Newcastle will now depart at 18:45 to better reflect shift times.

Q3

There will be minor runtime changes to improve reliability.

Saturday evening timetables will now be the same as those on all other days of week.

Journeys which currently end at Pilgrim Street will now terminate at Market Street West.

The Theatre Royal stop and Market Street East stop will be removed and replaced with a stop on Market Street West.

This service will be withdrawn due to very low passenger demand. Services 643 and 301 will still provide links in this area.

This is a new proposed service linking Hexham to Alston.
